Since April 22nd 2010, the Vienna Subway System owns a new large format artwork. Michael Schneider created a work of 330 sqm by producing a 43 meter long fries. The segments of the fries are done as screen prints that were fired to enamel. The screen prints were based on wood-block prints and polymer intaglios on Japanese paper. The work übertragung | transfer is not only a design in public space. It is a process that follows the nature of content and message transfer from the idea to the image, from medium to medium. Michael Schneider demonstrates through this process oriented approach the potential of printmaking to function as laboratory of contemporary art, as petridsh of art in the age of communication.
This catalog is the detailed documentation of the making of this impressive artwork, from the idea to the mounting.
